Jamaica is a member of:

• The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) which the specialized agency of the United Nations dedicated to promoting the protection and use of IP throughout the world for the benefits of all, and



• The World Trade Organisation which is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations.

Jamaica is signatory to the following international agreements on Intellectual Property:

• the Brussels Convention Relating to the Distribution of Programme Carrying Signals Transmitted by Satellite

• the Nairobi Treaty on the Protection of the Olympic Symbol
• the Nice Agreement concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the purpose of Registration of Marks
• the Paris Convention on the Protection of Industrial Property
• the Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations
• the Vienna Agreement establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks
• the WIPO Copyright Treaty
• the WIPO Performance and Phonograms Treaty

• Agreement on Trade Related aspects of Intellectual Property Rights(TRIPS)
