In a paper I presented at the International Reggae Conference hosted by the University of the West Indies last February,
I indicated that "showbiz is not only about the rights associated with the actual piece of music created, but the reputation and image of the artistes are also important income generators — sometimes even more valuable than a song or an album." At the time, I implored and I continue to implore our local players in the entertainment and sports industries to take a professional and more business-like approach to their craft.
